2024-2025 Achievements
A report of the achievements and learnings of the 2024-25 Staff/AAP Advisory Council is available here. A roster of Council members and officers is included.
The Council recognizes the progress that has been made in the following areas this year and wishes to acknowledge all those across the university who have contributed to these efforts:
Deepening collaboration with senior leadership
The Council executive committee has developed a working relationship with the office of the president, and main and medical campuses caucuses have worked to orient and engage new campus leaders around opportunities to better support and engage staff.
Maintaining strong and relevant caucus engagement
Through regular meetings with campus leaders, constituent listening sessions, and partnerships around initiatives like staff recognition awards and the staff symposium, caucuses have continued to advance awareness and support for staff concerns at the campus level. More information on these efforts can be found below.
Advancing implementation of university commitments to Inclusive Excellence
In response to Council advocacy around the results of the 2022 cultural climate survey, the university has developed a process to support individual unit self-assessment and goal-setting for rollout in 2025, and committed to enhanced staff training. It is recognized that this involves navigating an evolving legal and political terrain around efforts to support practices toward diversity and inclusion.
Investing in staff learning and development
The university has committed to implementing a new learning management system in GMS to support a range of training and professional development opportunities for staff. The Council continues to advocate for focused development for managers.
Providing critical spaces for listening and documenting staff impacts of university budget reduction actions
In response to the current and potential financial impacts of federal actions, the university has taken a series of steps impacting staff, including freezing hiring and merit increases, and transitioning from accrued to allotted leave. Campus caucus listening sessions have elicited robust responses and caucus and executive committee members have worked together to document and advocate for staff concerns to university leadership.
Sustaining Council representation on university committees
The Council renewed its representation on key institutional advisory committees:
