The Law Center candidates provided the following personal statements:

I’m honored to be nominated for a seat on the Staff/AAP Council, and if elected, look forward to getting more involved in University decisionmaking with other members of the Council. Being an advocate and a voice for my fellow colleagues is also of importance to me.

In my current role as an Executive Assistant at Georgetown Law, I work closely with leadership while also collaborating across departments, which has given me a clear view of how institutional priorities translate into day-to-day staff experience. If elected, I would bring a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and a strong attention to detail to the Council’s work. Ultimately, I see this as an opportunity to contribute to a more connected and responsive Georgetown community, one where staff voices are consistently represented and valued.

I am honored to have been nominated for the staff AAP council. I care a lot about our community and the people behind the work we do. In my role I’ve gotten to work closely with many departments across the Law Center and the university, this has given me a good sense of both our big priorities and what day-to-day life looks like for staff. That’s shaped my commitment to making sure staff voices are heard.

My leadership style is collaborative, empathetic, and focused on solving problems. I think good representation means really listening and then turning that feedback into clear, practical action. I’d see this role as a bridge between staff and leadership—helping raise ideas, address concerns, and keep everyone aligned.

I also try to create an environment where people feel supported, respected, and comfortable speaking up. I approach challenges with a solutions mindset, always aiming to build trust and keep things moving forward in an inclusive way.

How we show up for each other matters, and I try to contribute to a culture that’s supportive and forward-looking. Serving as Staff Representative would be a great chance to keep supporting our colleagues and help strengthen our Law Center community. Thank you for the opportunity to run and represent you.

Having started my journey at GU as a financial analyst and then working up into senior finance manager, I am looking to take my experience to the next level and help with the financial decisions that impact Georgetown Law.
I have experience in various financial areas of GU that include budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis. I am hoping to use that expertise to ensure GU law is making not only cost-effective solutions but also ethical solutions regarding finance.

Through research, morality and critical thinking, I believe in making financial decisions that benefit most parties while minimizing risk to the university.

It is an honor to be nominated to serve on the Staff/AAP Advisory Council. For those who may not know me, my name is Jose Luis, and I have been part of the Georgetown Law community for 20 years. This institution has shaped me in meaningful ways, and I care deeply about our shared mission—supporting our students, strengthening our community, and ensuring that staff feel valued, heard, and empowered.

Over the years, I have seen how essential staff are to the success of our students and to the overall health of our institution. I believe strongly that when staff are supported, respected, and included in decision‑making, the entire community thrives. We give our best when we know our voices matter.

As Georgetown enters a period of leadership transition—with a new University President and a new Law Center Dean—this is a pivotal moment for staff representation. The Staff Advisory Council has an important role to play in collaborating with new leadership, ensuring that staff perspectives, needs, and experiences help shape the path forward. Thriving together requires open communication, shared purpose, and a commitment to building a community where every member feels respected and supported.

If elected, I will work hard to represent you with honesty, clarity, and dedication. Thank you for considering me for this role. I would be grateful for your vote and for the opportunity to serve the staff of Georgetown Law.

IWith nearly two decades of experience at Georgetown, I have witnessed the university’s evolution firsthand. I am seeking a seat on the Council to leverage this institutional memory, ensuring that as “the tides change,” the voices of our staff and academic professionals remain a constant, driving force in university governance.

My candidacy is rooted in a deep commitment to the following:

Lived Experience and Equity: As a queer woman who has spent ~20 years navigating our campus culture, I possess a nuanced understanding of where our community excels and where we fall short. I will be a fierce advocate for equity and inclusion, ensuring these are not just buzzwords, but lived realities for everyone.

Authentic Cura Personalis: While we pride ourselves on “care for the whole person,” I recognize that this mission does not always translate to the staff experience. I want to help bridge the gap between our Jesuit values and our administrative policies, ensuring that the people who power this institution feel as valued as the students we serve.

Institutional Wisdom: My tenure allows me to offer a long-term perspective on how decisions impact our daily lives. I am prepared to act as a direct, constructive link between staff and executive leadership.

I am not just looking to sit at the table; I am looking to ensure the table is inclusive of the diverse perspectives that make Georgetown thrive. I would be honored to serve as your representative.

I am interested in serving on the Staff Council because I would like the opportunity to be more actively involved in the staff community and contribute to meaningful dialogue across the institution. I believe staff perspectives are essential to informed decision-making, as staff members often have firsthand insight into daily operations, workplace culture, and opportunities for improvement. Serving on the Council would allow me to help elevate staff voices, advocate for thoughtful and inclusive solutions, and represent the needs and experiences of colleagues across departments. I am eager to contribute my innovative mindset, higher education experience, and commitment to strengthening communication and engagement between staff and university leadership.
