The Main Campus candidates provided the following personal statements:

I am interested in serving as a member of the Staff/AAP Council because our intentionality with each other and our mission extends beyond student outreach. Especially during times like these, I believe we need an outcome driven council to be able to navigate the complexity of what it means to work and serve in higher education. I am not unfamiliar to the work of advocating for university sections through university channels, and I hope I can take this opportunity to listen and lean into what my fellow colleagues need. I intend to serve with integrity, and be willing to work through what is rationally radical: it’s what this council is called to be.

I am writing to express my strong interest in serving on the Staff/AAP Advisory Council. As a dedicated member of the Georgetown University community, I am passionate about contributing to a workplace culture that values collaboration, unity, and professional growth.

With over 2 1/2 years of experience working at Georgetown, I’ve had the opportunity to engage with colleagues across departments and witness firsthand the power of inclusive dialogue and shared governance. I believe the Council plays a vital role in representing staff voices and strengthening our collective sense of belonging. I am eager to contribute thoughtful insights, listen actively to diverse perspectives, and advocate for initiatives that support the well-being, development, and recognition of staff.

In my current role as Director of Integrated Career Development, I regularly collaborate with colleagues on cross-functional teams, engage in problem-solving, and support programs that align with Georgetown’s Jesuit values. I am particularly interested in advancing initiatives related to professional development, transparent communication, and work-life balance.

I would be honored to help shape a more supportive and connected work environment for all Staff and AAP employees.

As a dedicated professional with a strong foundation in higher education and a deep commitment to service, I am eager to contribute to the Staff/AAP Council. My academic and professional journey has been shaped by a passion for inclusive policy, community engagement, and institutional improvement.

I hold a doctorate in Higher Education with a focus on critical policy analysis from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where I also served on the MSCHE task force, helping to shape strategic direction and ensure institutional excellence. My earlier academic path includes a master’s in Organizational Leadership (Higher Education concentration) from Rider University and a formative undergraduate experience in the RJ Fellows Honors Program at Muhlenberg College, where I later served on the alumni board.

Through each of these roles, I’ve cultivated an understanding of governance, equity, and collaborative leadership. Now, I seek to bring that experience to the Georgetown community—a place whose Jesuit values of service, justice, and cura personalis deeply resonate with me. I believe that meaningful change happens when people come together with purpose, and I am committed to amplifying staff voices, fostering transparency, and advancing inclusive practices across our community.

It would be an honor to serve on the Council and contribute to the continued growth and strength of Georgetown University.

I am writing to express my interest in serving on the Staff/AAP Council. As someone who values collaboration and open communication, I see this as an opportunity to listen, learn, and contribute in a meaningful way to the broader University community. I believe in the importance of creating spaces where voices are heard, respected, and reflected in the decisions that shape our workplace.

As a student in the Public Relations and Corporate Communications program, I’m excited about the opportunity to apply the skills I’ve developed through my studies and my role here at Georgetown. I’m particularly interested in supporting initiatives that promote professional growth, improve communication across departments, and foster a more inclusive and supportive workplace.

I bring a kind, bubbly, and open personality to my work and enjoy environments where innovation and creativity are encouraged.

It would be an honor to help strengthen the bridge between staff and leadership. I’m excited about the possibility of contributing in a positive and meaningful way here at GU.

I am thrilled to accept the nomination for the Georgetown University Staff Council! As someone deeply invested in fostering a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive work environment, I am eager to serve as an advocate for my colleagues and contribute to strengthening our staff community.

Georgetown thrives because of the dedication and passion of its staff. I believe that when we uplift each other, we cultivate a workplace where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered. My approach is rooted in collaboration, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to ensuring that all staff members—across departments and roles—have a voice in shaping our collective experience.

With a background in academia and nonprofit leadership, I bring a dynamic perspective to staff engagement and institutional growth. I am passionate about fostering professional development opportunities, promoting work-life balance, and building a culture where transparency and communication flourish. If given the opportunity to serve, I will work to amplify staff voices, advocate for meaningful improvements, and help strengthen the bonds that make Georgetown not just a workplace but a thriving community.

I would be honored to represent my fellow staff members and contribute to making Georgetown an even better place to work. Let’s work together to create a university culture that values and supports all who dedicate their time and talents to this incredible institution!

I am writing to express my interest in serving on GU’s Staff/AAP Council. As a dedicated member of my community, I believe in the importance of shared governance and the vital role staff and academic professionals play in shaping a collaborative and equitable institution. This opportunity would allow me to contribute meaningfully to the dialogue between employees and University leadership while advocating for policies and practices that support our professional well-being and development. I would bring to The Council a thoughtful, solutions-oriented perspective and a strong work ethic. I am eager to listen, learn, and represent the voices of my colleagues with integrity and dedication. I also value collaboration and would strive to foster meaningful dialogue among stakeholders to promote continuous improvement and innovation across campuses.

My background includes over three years of service at Georgetown and I have consistently sought opportunities to build connections, streamline communication, and champion initiatives that enhance our working environment. I am particularly passionate about transparent leadership, equitable policy development, and creating pathways for professional growth. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I welcome the opportunity to contribute to Staff/AAP Council’s important work and to help ensure our professional community is informed, respected, and empowered.

I am thrilled to be nominated and would like to express my fervent interest in joining the Staff and AAP Advisory Council. Having been a member of the Georgetown community for over five years, I have had the opportunity to learn and grow in a thriving and rewarding atmosphere. I possess over ten years of experience working in the landscape of higher education and have a deep understanding of its practices, systems, and administrative processes. My journey has taken me coast to coast, from West Virginia University to Pepperdine University where I earned my Ed.D. I am currently privileged to be the Assistant Director of Student Systems and Reporting for the Student Systems Team in the Office of the University Registrar. What I am most proud of in my career has been my commitment to growing my campus partnerships. I have been honored to work with so many talented groups and individuals and have found myself cherishing the knowledge and best practices that have been passed along to me from diverse experiences. Georgetown particularly has such a sense of community and fosters skill acquisition and professional development. It has been a privilege to learn from and be able to collaborate with amazing colleagues who enjoy thinking through creative solutions. While I am a self-starter and work successfully independently, I am also energized by brainstorming and collaborating with teams who are working toward a common goal. I feel that my overall experience and skill set will permit me to represent, assist, and serve as an effective member of the council and the larger Georgetown community in an impactful way. I welcome the chance to collaborate and serve the university with my colleagues who care about Georgetown as much as I do. I thank you for your time and consideration!

I am excited to submit my candidacy for a seat on the Staff/AAP Council. With over 15 years of experience in higher education and a strong commitment to staff advocacy, I believe I can meaningfully contribute to enhancing our workplace culture and supporting the professional growth of our community.

Since joining Georgetown University, I have consistently voiced the need for improved staff benefits, work-life balance, and professional development opportunities. I firmly believe that when staff are supported, empowered, and heard, the entire institution thrives. My efforts have always been rooted in this conviction, and I would be honored to extend that work in service to the Council.

I bring a diverse personal and professional background, which gives me a unique lens to understand and represent the varied needs of our community. Whether through advocating for more equitable policies or promoting inclusion, I aim to ensure all voices are valued and recognized.

In 2022, I was honored to be recognized with a “40 Under 40” award at my alma mater, highlighting professionals who have made exceptional contributions and are positioned to leave a lasting impact. This recognition reflects both my passion for institutional service and my ability to lead with purpose.

As a member of the Staff/AAP Council, I would listen actively, advocate boldly, and collaborate widely to promote initiatives that advance the well-being and success of our staff. I respectfully ask for your support and vote.

Faisal Mahmud, PhD

I want to join the Staff / AAP Council in order to give representation to non-librarian University Libraries staff. There are many great people working in the Library that are neither represented by a union nor eligible to sit on the Faculty Senate. Our colleagues who are Professional Librarians are represented by the Senate, making them ineligible to vote in this election, and so I am asking that our friends from across campus vote for me, to help under-represented Library Staff have a voice!

I am thrilled to be nominated to serve on the Staff/AAP Council. I have had the privilege of serving on the Council for 4 prior terms.

Over the past few years, I have been excited about the active engagement we’ve seen from the staff/AAP community. I hope to continue to represent the voices of the staff/AAP community on the Council over the next two years.

A few words about me: I’ve worked at G.U. for approximately 28 years. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a number of different offices across different campuses. As a result, I’ve developed strong relationships across different departments, gained an appreciation for a variety of perspectives, and better understand both the differences and similarities in operations across departments as well as the interdependencies that exist between departments. The topics that I hope to continue to be able to engage on within the Council for the next term include ways to improve communication, policies, and procedures with a focus on strengthening the culture at GU and career progression for the staff/AAP community.

Thank you for your consideration.

It has been an honor to serve on the Staff/AAP Council for the past two years. I believe staff are the heart of our university, and it’s important to ensure our voices are heard and our contributions recognized. During my time on the council, I helped launch the Provost’s Distinguished Staff Award alongside Caitlin Cochran, celebrating excellence across our community. I also co-organized the first-ever GU Staff Symposium with our Main Campus Caucus, providing free professional development opportunities for all staff. In addition, I represent the council on the university’s Parking Committee. If re-elected, I’m excited to continue amplifying staff perspectives and advocating for meaningful support from university leadership.

As Executive Coordinator at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology, I’m passionate about fostering community and strengthening our university’s collaborative environment. I seek election to the Staff/AAP Advisory Council to serve as a bridge between dedicated professionals across departments and university leadership.

My experience at CSET has equipped me with unique qualifications for this role. Daily coordination across departments has honed my ability to synthesize diverse perspectives and build consensus. My position at the intersection of research, administration, and operations provides a comprehensive understanding of issues facing our staff community.

I believe staff and academic professionals are essential to Georgetown’s success. Our expertise, institutional knowledge, and daily contributions create the foundation that supports academic excellence. As a Council member, I would advocate for expanded professional development opportunities, champion workplace improvements enhancing work-life balance, and work toward policies that properly acknowledge staff contributions to our university community.

My commitment aligns with Georgetown’s holistic approach to care. I strive to practice “”Cura Personalis”” by recognizing each colleague’s unique contributions. Working at CSET has strengthened my appreciation for our university’s commitment to an inclusive community, where diverse perspectives create innovative and equitable outcomes.

I value Georgetown’s tradition of thoughtful reflection balanced with decisive action. My experience coordinating cross-functional teams has prepared me to listen attentively while advocating effectively for meaningful change.

If elected, I pledge to apply my organizational expertise and relationship-building skills to honor Georgetown’s commitment to creating an environment where all can contribute meaningfully to our university community.

I am honored to be nominated for the Staff/AAP Advisory Council because I am eager to advocate for staff wellbeing, retention, and growth; to serve as a responsive, thoughtful voice for our constituency; and to contribute to projects that reflect Georgetown’s commitment to excellence, equity, and community.

Over the past 2 years, I have had the privilege of serving as Operations Manager in the Dean’s Office of the School of Foreign Service. During this time, I’ve cultivated deep cross-departmental relationships, proactively filled gaps during transitions, and created resources that strengthen operational workflows and staff support.

I believe that the wide variety of people that I collaborate with through my work–both within and beyond my own School–will allow me to be a familiar, approachable, and knowledgeable figure for Staff and AAP across Main Campus. I am committed to listening closely to the concerns of staff from all parts of the University and to work toward unified goals that improve the everyday experiences of our colleagues.

The Georgetown community has been warm, generous, and encouraging during my time here, and I want to help ensure that experience is possible for every staff member. I’m excited by the opportunity to serve and give back to this workplace community that has given me so much already.

As a staff member deeply committed to fostering a sense of belonging, I see the Council as a meaningful platform to elevate staff voices, promote professional and personal development, and help shape initiatives that support the communities I serve.

With over seven years of experience at this institution, I am enthusiastic to play a more active role in supporting my colleagues by serving in the Staff/AAP Advisory Council. Throughout my time at Georgetown, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to participate in professional learning with colleagues and faculty, and engage and lead initiatives that span multiple departments and connect with student and alumni groups, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of our institution’s diverse needs and global mission. I look forward to working with other service-oriented colleagues and contributing my multicultural background, institutional knowledge, and my adaptability to strengthen cross-campus communication and contribute to thoughtful dialogue and solutions that support our shared mission. I welcome the opportunity to listen, learn, and advocate on behalf of my colleagues as we work to promote a welcoming and innovative future for our broader Georgetown University community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve!

At a time when higher education is under the microscope, it is more important than ever to have a Staff/AAP Advisory Council that will listen to you, support you, and advocate for you. The attacks on our institutions of higher learning are tough to read about, and we will get through, but we have to do it TOGETHER…as one Georgetown community. I am thrilled to be nominated for the Staff/AAP Advisory Council. I have been at Georgetown, and in the McDonough Undergraduate Programs Office, for 4 years. During this time, I have pursued opportunities to get involved with the university beyond the walls of Hariri, and what better way to give back to my colleagues than to be a part of the Advisory Council. If chosen to sit on the Council, I promise to continue to uphold the values of the Council and university, and work to advance our staff/AAP community towards more opportunities that will enhance our daily work. Particularly, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I look forward to the chance to serve on the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion Working Group, where the work to be done will be more important than ever. The purpose and mission of the Council is critical to the foundation and values that we hold at Georgetown, and by electing me to serve on the Council, I promise to do the work to represent you! Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to the possibility of serving on the Staff/AAP Advisory Council on your behalf!

I am eager to serve on the Staff/AAP Advisory Council because I am deeply committed to fostering a more inclusive, informed, and empowered workplace community at Georgetown University. As a staff member, I understand the importance of having our voices heard and represented in decisions that shape our daily work and long-term professional development. The Council’s mission to advocate for staff and AAPs, engage in thoughtful dialogue with University leadership, and help guide policies that affect our community directly aligns with my values and aspirations.

My goal is to be a proactive, approachable, and solution-oriented representative who can thoughtfully listen, elevate concerns, and contribute meaningfully to initiatives that support staff well-being, growth, and inclusion. I am especially interested in promoting transparent communication, creating opportunities for professional development, and helping ensure that all employees feel respected and valued as part of the Georgetown mission.

With a collaborative spirit and a passion for advocacy, I welcome the opportunity to serve and support our diverse staff community.

As a staff member at the Center for Children and Families, I represent a unique constituency – international staff and research center staff – with distinct challenges that are often underrecognized. I am drawn to the mission of the Staff/AAP Advisory Council to build a more inclusive, engaged, and responsive Georgetown community. I hope to help highlight the niche issues faced by staff in similar roles and advocate for greater awareness and inclusion at the university level.

With a Master of Public Policy and a current role supporting health policy research, I bring skills in policy analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and systems thinking that would benefit the Council’s work. I’m especially interested in serving on the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion Working Group, the Community and Culture Working Group, and the Human Resources, Benefits and Employee Relations Working Group.

Research centers like mine often operate with distinct workflows and challenges that may not be widely represented in campus-wide bodies. Similarly, international staff and faculty face unique considerations.

I hope to help strengthen communication between leadership, staff, and students, ensuring feedback mechanisms are accessible and impactful. My goal is to contribute to initiatives that support workplace equity and create professional development pathways that recognize the contributions of international and research-focused staff.

Georgetown’s values of service, dialogue, and care for each person in the community resonate deeply with me. I see this opportunity as a meaningful way to give back and help build a university where all staff voices are heard and supported.
